Developers who are unfamiliar with .NET technologies, cannot use .NET in their development environment, or simply wish to build their own XML manually may chose a pure web services approach to interface with BenSelect. Building XML manually can be a more tedious process and requires deeper knowledge of the XML structure used by Selerix. A distinct advantage does exist however. Developers who take this approach may find troubleshooting easier since they will be more familiar with the underlying XML data streams.
In addition to the general competencies cited earlier, developers who take this approach will need to be familiar at least with the following web technologies: HTTP, SOAP, WSDL, WSA10, WS-Security, SSL and TLS.
